Christmas in July

Image
Today I placed my first sand dollar Christmas ornament on the pier of Anna Maria Island . It's so much fun having Christmas in July since I'm watching Hallmark Christmas movies this month. The Sand Dollar Fairy placed it in a prominent spot on the pier and hopefully whoever finds it will enjoy a Christmas ornament from AMI and lots of great memories to go with it.  I know what it's like to find a sand dollar on the beach -- an unexpected gift. So, hopefully, this little souvenir of AMI will be just as memorable.  We have friends arriving on AMI this Saturday, so we'll be planting more "dollars" on the beach and throughout the summer.  Until next time...the beach is calling,  Connie

The Beginning

Whitney Beach  Mark said, "Let's retire near Anna Maria Island ." And I said, "When?" He said, "Now!" That was 1-1/12 years ago and we couldn't be happier--diving for sand dollars (almost every day). Who knew that retirement could be so much fun?! Actually, I'm "retired" and Mark is "semi-retired." He still teaches English as a second language to Chinese students online and loves it. Do you realize most of his students haven't even seen the ocean? So, Mark grabs some pictures and shows them where we live and they can't believe it. And then he brings out our sand dollar collection and they're ecstatic. Who knew that a sand dollar could cause so much elation in these young minds. I hope they know they can't trade them in for money (or maybe they can?). I just paint and decorate them. We now have a sand dollar themed Christmas tree.  I hope you'll stop by often to see where I've placed a painted sand dol...
