The Beginning

Mark said, "Let's retire near Anna Maria Island."

And I said, "When?"

He said, "Now!"

That was 1-1/12 years ago and we couldn't be happier--diving for sand dollars (almost every day). Who knew that retirement could be so much fun?! Actually, I'm "retired" and Mark is "semi-retired." He still teaches English as a second language to Chinese students online and loves it. Do you realize most of his students haven't even seen the ocean?

So, Mark grabs some pictures and shows them where we live and they can't believe it. And then he brings out our sand dollar collection and they're ecstatic. Who knew that a sand dollar could cause so much elation in these young minds. I hope they know they can't trade them in for money (or maybe they can?). I just paint and decorate them. We now have a sand dollar themed Christmas tree. 

I hope you'll stop by often to see where I've placed a painted sand dollar around Anna Maria Island. And that we can dive for sand dollars for a long time -- even in our "old" age. This is just the beginning...
